She scuttles across the floor and then doubles back to lurk under a bookshelf, wriggling into the narrow space. Here, she waits for an opportunity to jump out at him.
And it's barely ten seconds before César pauses in his run to take a look around to try to figure out where she might be hiding. She's probably hiding, right?
Ylva's had to figure out how to walk in a lot of different shapes, and while sometimes there's more overlap and sometimes less, 'two legs with a tail' is slightly unusual.
And while it's unsporting to not take a turn being the chased instead of the chaser, she's also not about to make it easy for him.
There's something of a wild scramble, claws rattling on the floor, before she finds her centre of balance, and she loses a lot of lead in the chaos. She flings herself unpredictably around a sharp corner, hoping to catch him off-guard.
It's why César practiced to make sure he wouldn't fall flat on his face before showing Ylva. Which unfortunately did not include enough practice with running.
Because he attempts that turn and just keeps going, claws scrambling as he falls over. César gets right back up, amused by his own fall, and continues rushing after her. Ylva has her comfortable lead back.
Ylva dips around a shelf and then makes an attempt to scramble up it. Many lizards are good climbers, after all, and it turns out this one is no exception. Up to the top of the stacks she goes, and then peers down to watch César -- hopefully unnoticed.
César does a‼️and quickly follows her once he gets back up. LOOK AT HIM. LOOK AT HIM CLIMB! This is the best day ever! At least until he can get married or he can fly, whichever comes first
Atop the shelf, Ylva briefly turns back into herself (clutching her perch carefully in case of unexpected wobbling). Fortunately, she isn't going to be that size for long. She raises a finger to César, giving him a saucy grin, and then changes shape.
She is a cute little snake, with batlike wings. Ylva spreads her wings to show herself off, and launches herself into the air and flaps to the top of another shelf.
Lizardsar stares at her as she flies to another shelf. He can't fly yet. Which means it's time to leap.
So he backs up and sprints, sailing through the air as he leaps, and scrambles as he manages to actually land on the next shelf. César lets out a triumphant hiss, flaring at her.
Ylva pauses, wondering what the hold up, and immediately divines the problem. Climbing down is hard, especially if you have to go head first and you're not used to it.
She glides back to where he is, and looks down the shelf, and back to him.
César looks down and tests his grip with one claw. Hmm. You know. He let instinct help him the way up but now he's... thinking about it too hard. Oh boy.
César knows it's supposed to be encouraging, but he can't a thought that comes to him. He scoots back a bit, gets on his hind legs slowly, and then tries to very gently pat her head to see what it feels like.
Pat. Pat, pat. Pat? César blinks, flexing his frill. He could get down if he wasted another Wild Shape to change forms to a squirrel, but he wanted to experiment with this form a bit more, first. Sigh. He doesn't want to break his back and then have to explain to Magne how he died as a literal lizard.

She flashes her frill at him playfully and then runs off through the stacks. Hide and seek!

Boo!
Then she turns and runs.

César chases after her on his back feet.

Wow, he can't believe how much fun this is!

Ylva looks back at him, and flicks her tongue.

Returning to human isn't going to help, as he'll break the shelf. Oh. Oh no.

She glides back to where he is, and looks down the shelf, and back to him.

Well, this is unexpected. She flicks her snake tongue at him, since blinking is not currently possible.
